Expect to learn about fascinating historical facts, such as how the streets were named, and the development of the cemeteries, alongside the unveiling of interesting stories and other surprises. Alongside history, we also pay homage to Glasgow's Scottish heritage and celebrate its culture, which extends to music, education, and much more. There will be a host of activities, ranging from viewing the original articles of incorporation of the city of Glasgow and minutes from early council meetings, exploring food trucks and enjoying a concert by famous Celtic rock band, Seven Nations. In this episode, Sam and I also take a look into the past’s challenges, like the cholera outbreak brought by the travelling circus, and the solutions found, such as the establishment of the unclaimed animals pen in the courthouse yard. We will also highlight Glasgow's achievements, such as its early manufacturing and agricultural advances and the success of local figures who have made significant contributions to humankind. This Friday night, the city will reverberate with the soulful music of 'Sundy Best', a renowned Kentucky band, with a local duo, 'Dad Bods', setting the stage beforehand.
The event will take place at Beaver Creek Park, lovingly known as Beaver Trail. Visitors can relish the comfort of paved paths leading to a newly constructed shelter that stands as a concert stage. Best of all, admission is free. Yes, you read it right! It's a free evening filled with fun, food & music.
